On polling eve, Omar dubs Sajad as Delhi’s man

Jammu, May 19: On the eve of the polling for the Baramulla Lok Sabha elections, former Chief Minister and National Conference candidate Omar Abdullah appealed to people to elect a “genuine representative” who will raise their voice in the Parliament.
“This time I am not going to criticize anyone on the eve of elections but I want to urge you that elect only your representative not an agent of the agencies or a representative of Delhi”, he said, in a veiled attack on his opponent Sajad Gani Lone.
“I assure you that I will fight against the discrimination and treatment being meted out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir after August 5, 2019”, he said.
Important to mention here that Omar Abdullah is locked in a tough electoral fight on the Baramulla seat where Sajad Gani Lone of the Peoples’ Conference and Awami Itihad Party candidate Engineer Rashid are contesting against him.
Around 17,37,865 electorates will decide the fate of 22 candidates on the Baramulla Parliamentary seat in Jammu and Kashmir which is going for polling on Monday.

In 2019 NC candidate Mohammad Akbar Lone won by securing 133426 votes, People Conference candidate Raja Aijaz Ali stood second with a total of 103193 votes.

Jammu & Kashmir National Conference candidate Mohammad Akbar Lone won and became a Lok Sabha member from this seat. He secured a total of 133426 votes. Jammu & Kashmir People Conference candidate Raja Aijaz Ali stood second with a total of 103193 votes. He lost by 30233 votes.
In 2014, the Baramulla parliamentary constituency had a total of 11,90,766 electors. Out of these total valid votes, 465992 people cast their votes. Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party candidate Muzaffar Hussain Baig won this seat. He secured a total of 1,75,277 votes. Jammu & Kashmir National Conference candidate Sharief Ud-din Shariq stood second with a total of 146058 votes. He lost by 29219 votes.
