J&K Police Inspector sits over transfer order

Jammu, May 20: An Inspector in Jammu and Kashmir Police is ostensibly refusing to leave his present place of posting despite his transfer order being issued last month.
According to the details available with Early Times an order no. 1099 of 2024 dated 29/04/2024 states: “Inspector……..presently attached with ………………………is hereby detached to……..zone for further duties with immediate effect.”
“Consequent upon above and in the interest of administration Inspector presently posted…..is hereby attached ………He shall hold the overall charge of ………………….ss till further orders,” the order stated.

He has completed a 3-year tenure but seems in no hurry to hand over the charge to a new officer.
The Inspector is reportedly trying to get DO letters in his favour from senior officers.
The delay is causing uncertainty in the chain of command.

A source said that the Inspector who has been transferred from his present place of posting after three years has not handed over the charge to the new officer. “The Inspector is trying to get DO letters in his favour from senior officers to get his transfer order cancelled,” the source said.
“The delay in handing over the charge has led to both the officers being present at the same place simultaneously leading to confusion. The delay is causing uncertainty in the chain of command,” the source added.
Despite repeated attempts the Inspector could not be contacted for his comments.
