Jammu, July 15: Even as opposition parties are still “confused” over the timing of the Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, the ruling BJP has started campaigning for the much-awaited polls in the Union Territory.
While as local unit of the party is focusing on 43 Assembly segments of Jammu province, the central leadership has decided to depute Union Ministers in Valley to explore the party’s future and possibility in Kashmir.
Two Union Ministers including Minister for State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya visited Kashmir Valley.
Apart from attending official functions, both the Union Ministers interacted with party workers and leaders of Kashmir Valley to assess the ground situation.
Sources said that, unlike Lok Sabha elections when the party supported like-minded parties on three Parliamentary segments, the BJP is going to field its candidates on the majority of the Assembly seats in Kashmir Valley.

Sources said that after the visit of the party’s national president J P Nadda last week, the BJP has kicked start the campaign for the Assembly polls in J&K.
Leaders of the J&K units have been directed to complete a district-wide tour of all 10 districts of the Jammu region within a week’s time so as to start the process of starting the process of shortlisting potential candidates.
During their tour to all districts, BJP leaders would seek feedback from party workers and sympathizers to prepare panels of three potential candidates for each Assembly segment of Jammu province.
Today J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina visited Kathua district and interacted with the party leaders and workers. Raina assured that the BJP would solve the problems of the daily wagers and other contractual employees working in different government departments.
He claimed that the BJP would form its own government in Jammu and Kashmir and all problems of the people would be solved. He said that only a double-engine government would be in a position to solve the problems of the daily wagers and other contractual employees.
