LG hands over appointment letter to martyr’s wife
Reasi Terror Attack
8/10/2024 10:11:04 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 10: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today handed over the appointment letter, on compassionate ground, to Renu Sharma, wife of Vijay Kumar, who was killed in Reasi Terror attack.
Vijay Kumar, a resident of Reasi, was driving the bus carrying pilgrims which was attacked by the terrorists on June 9 this year..
The Lt Governor assured all possible assistance and support from the J&K Administration to the family of the martyred civilian.
Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, and the family members of Vijay Kumar were also present at the Raj Bhawan.
Pertinently, according to the eye witnesses the martyr driver had shown immense presence of mind after the terrorists attacked the bus.
Soon the terrorist fired bullets, in which driver, conductor and nine others were killed, as the bus plunged into a gorge. Also, 41 other passengers were injured. “I believe that he (Vijay) deliberately plunged the vehicle into the gorge instead of stopping it on the road to prevent terrorists from killing all its occupants,” Sujan Singh, the bus owner had said after the attack. The eyewitness had claimed the driver was the first to be hit by a bullet.
