Para defends Jamaat, late Mufti; accuses NC of ‘sellout’
11/8/2024 10:55:46 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 8: Peoples Democratic Party leader Waheed Para on Friday defended Jamaat-e-Islami and PDP founder late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
National Conference MLA, Nazir Gurezi while speaking in the Assembly described Jamaat members as “traitors” and leveled allegations against the late PDP founder.
Responding sharply, Para, who is also MLA Pulwama, said, “If any talk of traitors arises, the first tag belongs to Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah for his sellout, not Jamaat or PDP founder.” Addressing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah directly, Para said that this isn’t just an ordinary house but history is recorded here. “We raised our voices so that history doesn’t view today’s resolution as surrender, betrayal, or sellout by the people, even as we supported it”
“We wanted to be part of a resolution on Article 370 that would be seen as historic, not as a betrayal,” he added.
