MCM pays tribute to Swami Dayanand on his 201st birth anniversary

CHANDIGARH, Feb 12: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, paid rich tributes to Swami Dayanand Saraswati on his 201st birth anniversary. Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan and staff members expressed their reverence towards the founder of Arya Samaj, and sought his blessings as they offered flowers on his picture. Artist Varun Tandon's portrait of Swamiji was also displayed on this occasion. The most striking feature of the portrait was that the stamp imprints in the portrait had mantras from vedas, and image of Arya jans performing havan. Making the most of this auspicious occasion, the college unveiled the poster of its annual cultural fest- Meraki. The artist of the Star Night during the fest- Nikhil D'Souza from Bollywood, and the artist for EDM Night- Aerreo, were also revealed through unveiling of their posters. Speaking at this occasion, Ms. Suman Mahajan reminded the students about Swami Dayanand ji's immensely significant contribution towards promotion of vedas and education, women empowerment, rekindling spirit of nationalism through vedas, fighting discrimination, social upliftment and nation building. Referring to Swamiji as one of the main architects of modern India, she asserted that a true tribute to him would be a resolve to walk on his path and to motivate others also to carry forward his legacy.
