Doda, Rajouri districts receive heavy snowfall

JAMMU, Feb 28: The districts of Doda and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir received much-anticipated snowfall after a dry spell, leading to a significant drop in temperature and bringing relief to farmers and other citizens After a prolonged dry spell, the snowfall transformed the Gandoh Bhalessa Mountain in Doda into a mesmerising winter wonderland as a fresh spell of snow encased the region into white.
Moreover, elevated areas of the Pir Panjal mountain range also received snowfall, transforming the region into a breathtaking tourist spot. The lower areas of the range experienced rainfall. Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam received fresh snowfall on Thursday, bringing joy to tourists, according to officials.
Farmers in the Doda district have expressed happiness over the snowfall, which was a rare occurrence in the region. While previous spells of snowfall had heightened concerns over potential financial losses for farmers, but this one appears to be beneficial for them.
The rainfall in Rajouri has led to the revival of rivers after a prolonged dry spell. The change in weather is expected to recharge groundwater sources and provide much-needed relief to farmers and residents struggling with arid conditions.
