3/23/2025 10:36:17 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 23: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police has booked three notorious drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act. The accused have been detained and lodged in various jails across Jammu and Kashmir.
The individuals identified as Owais Ahmad Bhat of Roshangar Mohalla Nowhatta Khanyar, Asif Ahmad Khan of Firdousabad Tengpora Batamaloo, and Aqib Islam Wani of Baghi-e-Mehtab Chanapora were booked after formal detention orders were obtained from the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. The police had prepared detailed dossiers against them, highlighting their involvement in large-scale drug peddling in Srinagar.
Following their detention, the trio has been lodged in Kot Balwal Jail Jammu, District Jail Udhampur, and District Jail Bhaderwah. Authorities have also initiated proceedings to attach their properties under the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
Police revealed that the accused were actively involved in narcotics distribution among the youth of Srinagar, despite multiple cases registered against them under the NDPS Act. Even after securing bail, they continued their illicit activities, promoting drug abuse across the valley.
Reaffirming its commitment to curbing drug peddling, J&K Police has urged citizens to report any drug-related activities through its official helpline at 9596770550. “Together, we can build a safer and healthier society,” the police stated.
