GDC Vijaypur organises poster making competition on HIV/AIDS awareness

VIJAYPUR, Oct 4: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ashu Vashisht, successfully organized a Poster Making Competition as part of the intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness, held under the auspices of the J&K AIDS Control Society.
The event was spearheaded by the college's Red Ribbon Club, with the enthusiastic participation of its members. The competition's theme was "Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond"-a theme designed to connect the fight against HIV/AIDS with broader global goals for sustainable development.
Principal Dr. Ashu Vashisht lauded the efforts of the Red Ribbon Club and the students for their commitment to social issues. "Engaging our youth in activities like this is crucial," she stated. "It not only raises essential awareness about HIV/AIDS but also empowers our students to see themselves as active agents of change in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within their local communities."
Program started with the welcome address by Dr. Arti Sharma (Convener, Red Ribbon Club) where she briefed students. Nearly 15 students of GDC Vijaypur participated in the poster making competition. First position was secured by Tanish Dhotra of B.Com Sem-I, second position was secured by Shravan Narayan Mathur of B.A. Sem-I and third position was shared by Sachin Kangotra of BA Sem-I and Aditika Bhardwaj of B. Com- I. The competition was adjudjed by Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography), Prof. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Manisha. Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Anita Jamwal, Prof Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Anoop Singh, Prof. Sonia Devi were also present in the event. The refreshment was also distributed to the students during the event. This event marks another step in GDC Vijaypur's ongoing series of initiatives aimed at fostering a socially responsible and aware student body.
