Early Times Report RS PURA, Oct 4: The Department of Environmental sciences in collaboration with the Eco-Club of Government Degree College R.S. Pura organized a special lecture on the theme Human and Wildlife Coexistence. The program was inaugurated by the principal of the college Dr. Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour, who highlighted the importance of conserving biodiversity for ecological balance and sustainable development. In her address, she emphasized that students, as future custodians of nature and must play a proactive role in spreading awareness regarding protection of flora and fauna. The event aimed at sensitizing students about the urgent need to protect biodiversity and safeguard natural habitats. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Muzafar A. Kichloo, who enlightened the students about highlighted the importance of wildlife in maintaining ecological balance, the threats posed by habitat destruction, poaching, and climate change, and the role of youth in spreading awareness for conservation. As hort documentary related to biodiversity conservation was also screened on the occasion. Students actively participated in the interactive session, sharing their views on the role of community involvement in wildlife conservation. The programme concluded with a pledge to protect nature and spread awareness in society. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sudesh Kumar (Convener, Eco-Club), Prof. Priya Darshni (HOD, Environmental Sciences), Dr. Akrity Parihar (Co-Convener, Eco-Club), Prof Geetika Goswami, Dr. Hari Singh, Dr. Renu Sharma. The faculty members Prof. Raj Kumari, Prof. Vijeeta Anand, Prof. Lukesha, Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, Prof Rajinder Singh, Ms. Gurleen and Ms. Roma graced the event. |
