Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 10: The Psychological Counseling Cell of the College celebrated World Mental Health Day 2025 with a week-long series of events aimed at promoting awareness, dialogue, and positive mental health practices among students and staff (Teaching and non- teaching ) The celebration of World Mental Health Day was organized under the able supervision and guidance of the Principal of the College, Dr. Jyoti Parihar, whose constant encouragement and support to the Psychological Counseling Cell have been instrumental in promoting mental well-being on campus. Her inspiring leadership motivates students to take meaningful initiatives towards creating a positive and mentally healthy environment. The World Mental Health Day series of events were organized under the convenership of Dr. Ambica Kumari, Assistant Professor in Psychology and Convener of the Psychological Counseling Cell. Dr. Ambica Kumari played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and coordinating the week-long programs that aimed to raise awareness about mental health and well-being among students, faculty, and staff. Committee members Prof. Anuradha Choudhary, Dr. Shalini Rana, Prof. Balwan singh Dr. Suraj prakash, Prof. KIran Thappa and Dr. Sonam Gandotra organised the series of events. The celebration began on 6th October with an Open House Discussion organized for ITEP, B.Ed, and M.Ed students, encouraging them to share their thoughts and experiences on mental well-being in academic and personal life. On 7th October, a Symposium on Mental Health was conducted, where students and faculty members exchanged valuable insights on maintaining psychological balance in the modern world. To foster informal yet meaningful conversations, " Man ki Baat Chai ke sath" was organized on 8th October for the teaching and non-teaching staff, providing a comfortable space to discuss workplace stress and mental wellness strategies. The series continued on 9th October with a Seminar on the Mental Health of Women, featuring Mr. Abhishek Chauhan Consultant Psychiatrist Abhishek chouhan s as the resource person, who shared his expertise and highlighted the importance of gender-sensitive approaches to mental health. Finally, on 10th October - World Mental Health Day, a Poster Making Competition was held, where students creatively expressed the theme of mental health awareness through art and design. Through these activities, the Psychological Counseling Cell successfully emphasized the importance of mental well-being, empathy, and open communication within the college community. The week concluded with a reaffirmation of the institution's commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy campus environment. |
