Early Times Report REASI, Nov 29: Continuing its intensified anti-narcotics and security enforcement drive, District Police Reasi achieved a success after a naka was laid in the jurisdiction of Police Post Banganga on Balini Bridge to Banganga Link Road. During the naka checking, police stopped two pedestrians approaching Banganga from the Balini Bridge side. Upon questioning, they disclosed their identities as Balwan Chand, S/O Bodh Raj, R/O Dobi Gali, Moungri, District Udhampur and Lekh Raj S/O Romesh Chand, Caste Masha, R/O Ladda B, Tehsil Moungri, District Udhampur Both individuals revealed that they work as labourers on the SMVD track. Due to their suspicious behaviour, a personal search was conducted. During the search, police recovered 4.63 grams of heroin from their possession. Taking swift action, Case FIR No. 321/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to identify the source of the contraband and ascertain any possible links in the drug network. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh, JKPS reiterated that District Police Reasi remains committed to its mission of eliminating the menace of drugs and ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims and locals. |
