Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 29: Former Vice Chairman and eminent social activist Balbir Ram Rattan emphasized the crucial role of parents in nurturing the hidden talents of their children beyond academics. He made these remarks during a vibrant painting exhibition held at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The exhibition was organised by The Himalayan Avion, a social organisation dedicated to bird study, awareness, and conservation. The initiative was led by its Head and Member of the J&K Wildlife Board, Guldev Raj. The event showcased more than 400 paintings created by budding students from various schools across Jammu province, attracting significant attention from art lovers, educators, and conservation enthusiasts. Balbir Ram Rattan praised the extraordinary talent displayed by the young participants. He said that alongside academic excellence, children must also be encouraged to discover and refine their potential in diverse creative and skill-based activities. "Extra-curricular activities help children build confidence, creativity, and a broader outlook toward life. These may start as hobbies but often evolve into lifelong passions or even careers. Parents and teachers should therefore guide children to explore their interests freely and wholeheartedly," he said. He further added that such exhibitions provide a strong platform for children to express themselves and gain recognition for their talents. He appreciated the efforts of The Himalayan Avion for organizing an event that not only promotes art but also spreads awareness about wildlife conservation. Sharing the concept behind the exhibition, Guldev Raj said that this year's theme-'Family of Wild Animals and Migratory Birds over the Wetlands of J&K', was chosen to inspire young minds to observe and appreciate nature more deeply. Guldev Raj said that their organisation is delighted to see overwhelming participation from students and encouraging feedback from visitors. People from different walks of life are visiting the exhibition and praising the artistic skills of these young learners. This appreciation is significantly boosting their morale and motivating them to pursue their creative abilities with greater dedication. |
