Kishtwar, May 9 : The Government Higher Secondary School Panjdhara situated in remote Dachhan area of Kishtwar District having student strength of nearly 400 mostly belonging to poor families not only lacks modern and basic infrastructure, but there is also the dearth of staff in the school particularly for over 150 medical stream students studying in 11th and 12th class of the school. While talking to "Early Times", a group of students from GHSS Panjdhara led by Sachin Prakash & Ajeet Ganjoo said that the studies of over 150 students having opted for the medical stream are suffering badly as there was no teacher available in the school who could teach them science subject. "Having science lecturer in the school is a distant dream--- our school even doesn't have any teacher/master grade who can teach science subjects to the students" said Sachin Prakash.
He said that due to bad weather condition the school mostly remains closed and added that when the school open after long winter breaks, no one is available in the school to teach them.
Another student said that even arts stream students are facing problem as the school lacks staff strength. The students said that most of the staff posted in the school also remains absent from their duties.
The students said that due to apathetic condition of the school in terms of infrastructure as well as non availability of staff, the students studying in this school are lacking behind in all respect as well as in all aspects who were denied the proper education even in 21st century when country like India has touched its feet on the moon. This student group also called on DC Kishtwar and submitted him a written representation apprising him about the problems faced by the students of GHSS Panjdhara. DC Kishtwar after giving patience hearing to the students' demands directed Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kishtwar to take immediate measure to address the issue and further directed him to submit the action taken report in this regard. Meanwhile the official in CEO office Kishtwar confirm that DC Kishtwar has issued necessary direction to the concerned officer with regard to the problem faced by the students of HSS Panjdhara and added that once the model code of conduct implemented by the Election Commissioner of India keeping in view of ongoing Parliamentary elections will be lifted, appropriate arrangements will be made for providing medical facility staff in the said school.
