Ayush units, Ayurvedic dispensaries in Jammu likely to close down | BJP's gift for Jammuites | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 1: Instead of filling vacant posts of Ayurvedic doctors, the State Government is going to shut Ayush Units and Ayurvedic Dispensaries in Jammu division. Sources informed Early Times that Indian System of Medicine (ISM) units are being shut down, due to shortage of Ayurvedic doctors. "There is one post of Ayurvedic, Unani and Homeopathy doctors in each Ayush Unit, and there is one Ayush unit in each district, while a doctor along with other staff can run Ayurvedic dispensary", sources said, adding that ISM has sufficient number of doctors. "In J&K ISM has 480 dispensaries and 22 Ayush Units, and 570 doctors including Ayurvedic, Unani and Homeopathy", sources divulged, adding that these centers are deliberately being closed without any reason. Sources said that no question of shortage of doctors raises, as the ISM in J&K has surplus strength of doctors. "Ayush unit Kathua does not have doctor, while paramedical staff are looking after the patients who visit the unit", sources said. DMO Rajouri has issued an order to close the Ayush unit of the district. "Poor people who don't afford expensive medicine use to visit Ayush units or Ayurvedic dispensaries, where free of cost medicines are being provided to the people", they added. Sources said that Ayush unit and Ayurvedic dispensaries in Government Medical Collage and Hospital Jammu and Sarwal Hospital have been closed. Ridiculing BJP's stand on issue, sources said that not a single dispensary and Ayush unit in Kashmir valley is being closed by the Government. "It seems, so-called players of Jammu's cause have closed their eyes. Unfortunately, ISM comes under control of Health Minister, why he is not taking pain to prevent the only option health check-up of poor public", sources said lambasting the State Government. However, sources said that the chaos is being created to hush up the back door appointments and recent mass transfers of Assistant Surgeons at valley along with posts. When contacted Kabir Dar, Director ISM J&K, said that due to shortage of doctors some Ayush Units and Ayurvedic Dispensaries were being closed. |
