| Statements on portfolios irk BJP office bearers | | |

JAMMU, Mar 30: Sharp differences have cropped in BJP over the statements made by some party leaders on the government formation and distribution of portfolios between the two coalition partners.
According to sources, some BJP leaders during the office bearers meeting have taken serious exception to reported statements by some leaders in media over the distribution of portfolios and formation of government.
Some senior office bearers during the meeting while objecting such statements have said that this way party was itself giving issues to opposition to corner nit in future. While challenging the statements over portfolios distribution he said that tomorrowwhat reply the Party can give to opposition when it will raise a question why you could not get the portfolios on which you have bargained earlier. They may also say that the Party has ditched the people of Jammu region and at that time it would become difficult for us to defend the Party's position.
Sources said these leaders said that by cornering our coalition partner on portfolios distribution at a time when the Party has already handed over the letter of support to Governor will create problems for PDP too and this will go directly in favour of Congress and NC. This is not any political maturity also that BJP is giving issues to opposition against itself is what these leaders informed Avinash Rai Khanna the national vice president of the Party and Prabhari for the State who reached here early this morning to ascertain views of Party office bearers, legislators and Core Group members.
Sources said while objecting such statements BJP office bearers have also said that this creates an indiscipline in the Party which should be avoided. These leaders said what is the fun of demanding more ministries when the performance of those ministries held by Party previously were not up to the mark?. Had the BJP ministers of previous Government come to the expectations of the people, the questioned?
They said that coalition can't be run by outwitting the alliance partner but through mutual understanding and trust.
During the meting Khanna asked one of the senior Party leaders how the statement on his name was published in a section of the press regarding distribution of portfolios and he urged the Party to avoid such activities. |
