UP team vanquish J&K team by 6 wickets

Jammu, Dec 8: Suresh Raina finished the game with a six as team Uttar Pradesh defeated the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) team by six wickets despite 102 runs lead in Ranji Match Round 5, Elite Group C with one day to spare. The match between the two teams was played at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground, Jammu.
It was the class and temperament of well experienced of Suresh Raina who gave no chance what so ever to opponents as he scored 66 runs of 100 balls to put his team across the line. Rinku Singh's hard hitting entertained the spectators quite well. He scored 42 runs of 47 balls along with Raina to see of the game.
Earlier on the day 3, team Jammu and Kashmir resumed the match on 98 for the loss of 7 wickets. Heroics of local boy Aakash Choudhary did not lost long as he felled at the score 107. The last two batsmen added just four runs to the total with Jammu and Kashmir team second innings curtain raised for 111 all out.
J&K team needed early brakes but to their bad luck, quick bowlers could not take wickets at early stage. Madhav Kaushik was first wicket to perish at the stage on 38 runs while chasing a target of 212 runs. Middle order batman contributed their bit making sure that they do not lose wickets like that of first innings.
First four batsmen scored odd runs with Uttar Pradesh losing 4 wickets at the score of 136 runs. But it was too little too late for the Jammu and Kashmir bowlers with Suresh Rains still at the crease. It was 82 runs partnership of Raina and Rinku Singh which summed up the game for Uttar Pradesh team. Earlier in the game, J&K team had scored 290 runs in the first innings with Irfan Pathan's hard hitting and Rasool's solid innings. Up team were bundled out for 188 with Jammu and Kashmir taking 1020 runs lead but continuing their batting failure trend they failed to score big in the second innings. One cannot take away the superb bowling performance of Saurabh Kumar. Who took 6 wickets in the first innings and 5 crucial wickets in the second innings and was adjusted Man of the Match for his bowling performance. Jammu and Kashmir will next face Haryana at Ch Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium Rohtak from December 14. Brief Score: Team UP 188 (Rinku Singh 66; Parvez Rasool 4 wickets) and 218-4 (Suresh Raina 66; Parvez Rasool 2 wickets) win by 6 wickets. J&K team 280 (Irfan Pathan 91; Saurabh Kumar 6 wickets) and 110 (Ahmed Bandy 19; Saurabh Kumar 5 wickets)
