KATHUA, Apr 4: The police on Wednesday 'forcibly' shifted to hospital the four women who had been on fast unto death for last four days to demand that the Asifa Bano murder case be handed over to the CBI. Trishla Devi and Anjana Sharma of Rasana village, Sushma Devi of Satrura and Darshna Devi of village Dhamyal of Hiranagar sub division, after being examined by the doctors and sensing their condition serious, were shifted by police to sub district hospital Hiranagar.
However the members of Hindu Ekta Manch alleged that police forcibly shifted the women to the hospital.
"After police shifted the women to hospital another four women of village Rasana immediately replaced them and started their fast unto death," said Kant Kumar Sharma.
The women who today sat on fast unto death are Darshna Devi, Surishta Devi, Vidya Devi and Vishno Devi of Rasana and Dhamyal village. Sub Divisional Magistrate Hiranagar Suresh Sharma said a medical team is regularly monitoring the condition of the women.
The women who today sat on fast unto death said that till government does not concede their demand of CBI inquiry, they will continue their struggle.
Meanwhile, Hindu Ekta Manch's general secretary Kant Kumar said it is a shame that no public representative, not even the local MLA, has visited the spot to inquire about the health of the four women.
On March 1, in a rally at Kathua, two cabinet ministers from BJP promised to Hindu Ekta Manch and people of Kathua that they will fulfil their demand and force Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to shift the Asifa Bano case to the CBI.
But since then these two ministers have gone into hibernation. "It clearly shows how the BJP, the so-called champions of Hindus, have ditched the people after coming into power," a Kathua resident said. |
