Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 24: Notwithstanding claims of the political parties’ lackluster response to the people during the election campaign worried candidates fighting the electoral battle on the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat.
Although there are 22 candidates in the fray, the main contest is between the sitting Lok Sabha member of BJP Jugal Kishore Sharma, and Congress candidate Raman Bhalla.
Instead of actively participating in election campaigns, people preferred to maintain a distance from the functions of both parties and this is a matter of concern for the candidates.
While Jugal Kishore Sharma is seeking the support of the people of this constituency to create history by making a hat-trick, Raman Bhalla is trying to snatch this seat from the Saffron party.
The campaign for this seat ended on Wednesday evening with rallies by both Congress and BJP in Jammu city but the response of the common masses was not encouraging during the electioneering.

The campaign for this seat ended on Wednesday evening with rallies by both Congress and BJP in Jammu city amid lukewarm response from the people.
Congress, which is trying to retrieve its lost ground in Jammu , failed to organize any big political rally in the city.
h out to the masses and this was the main reason for peoples’ cold-shoulder response to the election campaign.
Only one big political rally was held in Jammu city when Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the gathering last week in the Paloura area.
Congress, which is trying to retrieve its lost ground in Jammu city, has not organized any big political rally here.
Instead of calling any national leader, the party preferred to organize corner meetings in the different constituencies of Jammu city.
Voters of Jammu city, comprising five assembly segments namely R S Pura-Jammu South, Bahu, Jammu East, Jammu West, and Jammu-North have maintained a guarded silence.
The fate of the candidates fighting elections on the Jammu-Reasi seat would be decided by these five assembly constituencies where BJP has secured a maximum number of votes during the last two Lok Sabha elections.
First time Reasi district has been included in this constituency which was earlier called as Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat.
