GDC Bishnah organizes seminar in Collaboration with JKP Department

Jammu, Oct 29: Government Degree College, Bishnah, in collaboration with the J&K Police Department, Police Station Bishnah, organized a Seminar on the topic “Legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Education System” on 29th October 2025 in the College Browsing Centre.
The event was organized to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to celebrate his remarkable contribution to national integration and educational reforms.
Students participated enthusiastically and presented their views in Hindi, English, and Urdu, reflecting linguistic diversity and intellectual depth. Participants included Ms. Shivani, Ms. Akshara Chawla, Mr. Mohd. Yaseen, and Mr. Navjot Singh. The event was conducted under the esteemed guidance of the Principal of the College, Dr. Shallu Samyal.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Irshad Rather, SP Headquarters Jammu, along with DSP R.S. Pura, Shri Prabhu Dayal, and SHO Bishnah, Shri Rakesh Jamwal. In his keynote address, SHO Rakesh Jamwal delivered an insightful talk on the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, highlighting his visionary role in unifying India and shaping the nation’s administrative and educational framework.
He also appreciated the college administration for organizing such awareness-oriented programmes that encourage students to engage meaningfully with national issues.
The judges of the event were Dr. Shrotika Rajput, Head, Department of Political Science, and Dr. Sapna Bhargav, Department of English . After a thoughtful evaluation, the winners were announced: Ms. Shivani secured the First Prize and was awarded a cash prize of ₹2500; Mr. Navjot Singh won the Second Prize with a cash award of ₹2000; Mr. Mohammad Yaseen bagged the Third Prize with a cash prize of ₹1000, while Ms. Akshara Chawla received a Consolation Prize of ₹1000 for her commendable performance.
The programme was smoothly coordinated by Dr. Koushal Kiran, Head, Department of Urdu, and Dr. Ashma Gupta, Department of Zoology. Dr. Koushal Kiran skillfully handled the stage proceedings, while Mr. Mohammad Arbaz compered the main event.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable collaboration between the college and the Police Department in fostering civic awareness, youth engagement, and responsible citizenship.
