SRINAGAR, Oct 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed the “Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
The Bill was moved in the House by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar.
“A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989 (Act No. IX of 1989) (L.A. Bill No. 5 of 2025),” reads the Bill passed in the House.
The Bill was passed by the House through a voice vote.
Shops and Establishments Amendment Bill
The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed the “Jammu and Kashmir Shops and Establishments (Licensing, Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill, 2025”.
The Bill was moved in the House by Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary.
“A Bill to amend and consolidate the laws relating to regulation of employment and other conditions of service of workers employed in shops and establishments and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. (L.A. Bill No. 6 of 2025),” reads the Bill passed in the House.
The Bill was passed by the House through a voice vote.
Cooperative Societies Amendment Bill
The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Amendment Bill, 2025 in the Legislative Assembly.
The Bill was moved in the House by Minister for Cooperative, Javid Ahmad Dar.
“A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act, 1989 (Act No. XVII of 1989) (L.A. Bill No. 7 of 2025),” reads the Bill passed by the House.
The Bill was passed by the House through a voice vote.
J&K Tenancy Bill, 2025
Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed the Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy Bill, 2025.
The Bill was moved in the House by Minister for Health, Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
“A Bill to establish Rent Authority to regulate renting of premises and to protect the interests of landlords and tenants and to provide speedy adjudication mechanism for resolution of disputes and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. (L.A. Bill No. 4 of 2025),” reads the passed Bill.
The Bill was passed by the House through a voice vote.
MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat had moved an amendment to the Bill seeking that “In Clause 32 (2) of the Bill, the words, “ thirty days” be substituted by the words, “ninety days”. However the resolution was dropped by voice vote.
