In joint operation, BSF, Jammu Police recover Heroin worth Rs 40 crore

Jammu, Feb 14: In a significant breakthrough on the anti-drug trafficking front, Jammu Police, in a joint operation with the 165 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered a huge quantity of narcotics worth approximately Rs 40 crore near the International Border (IB) in the RS Pura sector of Jammu district, a statement said.
It said, “Acting swiftly on specific inputs received from 165 Bn BSF regarding suspicious drone activity along the International Border, a joint cordon and search operation was launched during the intervening night of February 13 and 14, 2026. The operation was carried out in the Nai Basti Karotana area of Baspur in the R.S Pura sector, close to the IB.”

Upon weighing, the recovered contraband was found to be approximately 6.582 kilograms of heroin-like substance, with an estimated value of ₹40 crore in the international market,” the statement said, adding, “In connection with the recovery, a case has been registered at Police Station R.S Pura under FIR No. 36/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act. The investigation has been taken up by SHO Police Station R.S Pura, Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, assisted by Incharge BPP Baspura, SI Ranbir Singh, under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu.”
“Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact source and intended destination of the recovered contraband. Police are thoroughly examining both backward and forward linkages to dismantle the larger network involved in cross-border narcotics smuggling. More arrests and breakthroughs are expected in the coming days,” it added.
Jammu Police appealed to citizens, particularly those residing near the International Border, to remain vigilant and share any information related to illegal drug activities in their localities.
