3/12/2026 10:32:33 PM
Early Times Report
DODA, Mar 12: During the intervening night of 11/12-03-2026, reliable information was received at Police Post Pul Doda that bovine smuggling was being carried out from Sarsi towards Ramban. Acting swiftly on the information, a police team laid a naka and intercepted a vehicle, Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK06B-2363, which was being driven by an unknown person.
Upon checking the vehicle, 06 bovine animals (05 cows and 01 ox) were found loaded in a cruel manner, mercilessly tied with ropes without any proper arrangement for food or water, indicating that they were being transported for illegal selling purposes.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that the bovine animals were being transported from one district to another without obtaining permission from the District Magistrate, Doda, which is a violation of the law.
On noticing the police party, the driver fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness, leaving the vehicle and bovine animals behind. Accordingly, a case FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Doda, and investigation has been initiated to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the smuggling attempt. Further investigation is underway.
