JAMMU, June 10: Continuing its sustained crackdown against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu (Rural) Police successfully foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and rescued 39 bovine animals.
During naka checking at Panjal, a police party intercepted a truck bearing registration No. JK14G-0065 and found 12 bovines animals being transported illegally. The animals were tied and transported in a cruel manner without fodder or water.
While the driver fled from the spot, the vehicle along with the bovines were seized for legal action.
Accordingly, FIR No. 84/2026 under Section 223 of BNS and Section 11 of PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation has been taken up to identify and apprehend the accused who fled from the spot.
In another operation, acting on reliable information, a police team of Police Post Manwal laid a naka at Nadhal and intercepted a Canter bearing registration No. JK19A-6254 driven by Tanveer Ahmed S/O Abdul Rashid R/O Sangaldan, Tehsil Ramban.
During checking, 27 bovines animal's were found loaded in a highly congested manner and being transported without obtaining the requisite permission from the District Magistrate.
All 27 bovines were rescued safely and the vehicle was seized on the spot.
In this regard, FIR No. 85/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli against the accused and further investigation is underway.
In both cases, a total of 39 bovine animals were rescued and 02 vehicles were seized.
Jammu (Rural) Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against bovine smuggling and will continue to take stringent action against those involved in such illegal activities. |
