SRINAGAR, June 10: A special police officer was 'disengaged' from service in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district for his alleged involvement in an NDPS case, police said on Wednesday. Baramulla Police has disengaged SPO Khalid Nazir Khan, a resident of Katipora, Tangmarg, from the SPO cadre with immediate effect following his involvement in an NDPS case, a police spokesman said. He said that during naka checking at Wussan Crossing in Kunzer area of the north Kashmir district on April 23 this year, police intercepted a vehicle. The occupants in the vehicle, including the SPO, were found in a suspicious condition, the spokesman said. During checking, among syringes and needles, the police also recovered a silver foil paper used for the consumption of narcotic substances was also recovered from them, he said. Subsequently, a case was registered under Sections 8, 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act, he said. In view of the serious involvement and conduct unbecoming of a member of a disciplined force, the SPO has been disengaged from service with immediate effect, the spokesman added. |
