JAMMU, Aug 11: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a corruption case against a former Patwari in Kishtwar for allegedly demanding Rs 5 lakh as illegal gratification and accepting Rs 3 lakh through cheque in connection with the issuance of a Fard. According to an ACB statement, FIR No. 02/2026 has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended, at Police Station ACB Doda against Mohd Arif Mir, the then Patwari of Patwar Halqa Trigam, Kishtwar.
The case was registered after a verification conducted by ACB DKR Jammu into allegations that the accused, while posted as a public servant, allegedly misused his official position and demanded Rs 5 lakh from the complainant for issuing a Fard.
The ACB alleged that the accused later accepted Rs 3 lakh through cheque as illegal gratification, following which the concerned Fard was issued.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted a search at the residential premises of the accused Patwari at Malipeth, near Grid Station, Kishtwar.
The search was conducted in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses, the anti-graft agency said.
The ACB said further investigation in the case is underway to establish all facts and circumstances related to the alleged corruption case. |
