SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to assess the overall security preparedness and arrangements ahead of the Independence Day celebrations across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, DGP Nalin Prabhat reviewed the operational preparedness of the security forces and directed officers to maintain a high level of alertness in the run-up to Independence Day celebrations.
The DGP stressed the importance of intelligence-based operations, timely response mechanisms and effective coordination among all security and law-enforcement agencies to maintain a strong and responsive security grid across Jammu and Kashmir.
He directed officers to ensure effective deployment of manpower, intensified area domination and continuous surveillance, particularly in vulnerable areas, while maintaining close coordination with other security agencies.
The security arrangements at major Independence Day venues were also reviewed in detail, with particular focus on Bakhshi Stadium, Srinagar, where the main celebrations are scheduled to be held.
The DGP directed the concerned officers to ensure efficient traffic regulation, proper parking arrangements and smooth movement of people in and around the venue. He emphasised that adequate arrangements should be made so that people attending the celebrations face minimum inconvenience and have easy access to essential facilities.
Detailed discussions were also held regarding security deployment, intelligence inputs, traffic management, route security, access control, surveillance and other operational arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir.
DGP Nalin Prabhat directed officers to intensify night patrolling and naka checking, particularly at vulnerable locations and along inter-district borders, besides maintaining heightened surveillance to prevent any untoward incident.
He further reviewed anti-sabotage measures, frisking arrangements, access control, route security, deployment of personnel and surveillance mechanisms at important venues across the Union Territory.
The DGP stressed strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and called for continuous coordination between the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces and other security and law-enforcement agencies.
The meeting concluded with a firm resolve to ensure foolproof security, enhanced vigilance, effective inter-agency coordination and the peaceful conduct of Independence Day celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Spl DGP Coordination J&K, ADGP CID J&K, IG BSF Frontier Headquarters Kashmir and Jammu, IG CRPF SOS/KOS/Jammu, IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP Jammu Zone, IGP Security J&K, IGP Railways J&K, IGP Traffic J&K, DIG SSB Kashmir and Jammu, all Range Deputy Inspectors General of Police, DIG Armed/IRP Kashmir and Jammu, all District Senior Superintendents of Police and Police District heads, SSP PCR Kashmir, officers attached to senior police formations, SSP APCR Kashmir, SP Cargo Srinagar and other senior police and security officials.
