Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 16: In a striking image from Jammu and Kashmir on Independence Day, the parents of active Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abid Ramzan Sheikh hoisted the national Tricolour at their home in the Chotipora area of Shopian district.
The gesture came as the country celebrated Independence Day on August 15, with people across Jammu and Kashmir joining celebrations and displaying the national flag.
The sight of the parents of an alleged active terrorist proudly hoisting the Tricolour at their residence has drawn attention, particularly against the backdrop of Abid Ramzan Sheikh's alleged involvement in terror-related activities in the Valley.
According to the report, Abid Ramzan Sheikh is an active commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and has been accused of involvement in several terror-related cases. Multiple FIRs have reportedly been registered against him.
He has also been accused of involvement in the 2022 killing of CRPF jawan Mukhtar Ahmad in Shopian.
In 2022, terrorists allegedly shot dead CRPF jawan Mukhtar Ahmad at his residence in the Check Chotipora area of Shopian. Following the incident, police arrested a suspected accused and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the crime based on his disclosure.
An over-ground worker (OGW), who was allegedly assisting in the terror crime, was also arrested, according to the report.
The attack was attributed to the Lashkar-e-Taiba, with Abid Ramzan Sheikh alleged to have directed the operation.
The hoisting of the Tricolour by Sheikh's parents on Independence Day has since emerged as a notable image from Shopian, highlighting a stark contrast between the alleged militant activities attributed to their son and their public display of the national flag.
