Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 19: Six alleged drug peddlers were arrested following recovery of heroin from their possession during checking at separate places in Udhampur, Samba, Jammu and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said. A police party intercepted a motorcycle at Phalata village of Udhampur and subjected its two riders to checking, resulting in the recovery of 5.22 grams of heroin from them, a police spokesman said. He said both the drug peddlers -- Akash Kumar and Ajay Singh -- were arrested for further investigation. Two more alleged drug peddlers, Syed Behran Aftab and Ishtiyaq Ahmad, were arrested after 8.69 grams of heroin was recovered during their frisking at Vijaypur in Samba district, the spokesman said. Police also arrested Paras Nayar and recovered seven grams of heroin from his possession during patrolling in Miran Sahib area of Jammu. Barkat Ali was arrested after four grams of heroin was seized from his possession during checking at Link Road Berrian Pattan in Kathua district, the spokesman said. He said all the arrested accused were separately booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigation of the cases are underway to expose the backward and forward linkages. |
