Jammu, Sept 11: Months after the next of kin of terror victims were provided government jobs, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) has now thrown open applications for MBBS seats reserved under the Central Pool — offering spouses and children of terrorism victims a shot at medical education for the 2026-27 academic session.
As per Notification No. 191-BOPEE of 2026, dated September 11, 2026, the Board has invited offline applications to fill four MBBS seats earmarked across the country: one at A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya (Bihar); one at Grant Medical College, Mumbai (Maharashtra); and two at the private J.N.M. Medical College, Raipur (Chhattisgarh).
To be eligible, candidates must be permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and the spouse or child of a civilian killed or disabled in a terror-related incident. Applicants must have turned 17 by the time of admission, and selection will be strictly on the basis of rank secured in NEET-UG 2026, conducted by the National Test The Board has invited offline applications to fill four MBBS seats earmarked across the country.
To be eligible, candidates must be the spouse or child of a civilian killed or disabled in a terror-related incident.
Children who have lost both parents to terrorism will be considered first.
Additionally, BOPEE has mandated submission of an FIR, death certificate, post-mortem report, and an affidavit.
BOPEE has made it clear that submitting an application confers no automatic right to selection, and that the J&K Union Territory's reservation policy will govern allotment of these Central Pool seats.
The Board has spelt out a clear order of preference: children who have lost both parents to terrorism will be considered first, followed by children of families whose sole breadwinner was killed by terrorists, and thereafter dependents of victims left with permanent disability or severe injury due to terror-related violence.
Applicants must furnish a domicile certificate, NEET scorecard, Class 12 marksheet, and date of birth certificate. Additionally, BOPEE has mandated submission of an FIR, death certificate, post-mortem report, and an affidavit — safeguards intended to prevent the benefit from being claimed by ineligible candidates. Crucially, the certificate establishing the status of the deceased or sole breadwinner must be issued jointly by the SHO and the concerned hospital, and countersigned by the SSP and Tehsildar of the area. |
