Early Times Report
CHANDIGARH, Sept 12: NCC (Army Wing) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, under the aegis of 1 Chandigarh Girls Battalion, NCC, organised a series of activities to observe Lifestyle Day under Social Service and Community Development (SSCD)- an important component of NCC. The programme focused on promoting health, well-being, mindful living and sustainable lifestyle choices through engaging activities that included a seminar, slogan-writing competition and reel-making activity.
The highlight of the programme was an insightful and interactive session by alumna Ms. Jas K. Shan, Motivational Speaker, Wellness Coach, and Movement Expert. Addressing the cadets and students, she highlighted eight essential healthy eating habits and emphasised the importance of adequate sleep, timely meals, mindful screen-time management and disciplined daily routines. Her engaging session encouraged students to reflect on their everyday choices and adopt healthier and more conscious lifestyle practices. An interactive questionnaire and a range of engaging activities further enriched the session and elicited enthusiastic participation. Sharing anecdotes, success stories and cherished memories of her college days, Ms. Jas K. Shan fondly recalled her association with the college and highlighted the institution's consistent efforts towards fostering a healthy, supportive and value-based environment for its students, nurturing confidence, discipline, holistic development and a strong sense of social responsibility. Her reflections added a personal and inspirational dimension to the programme and created a meaningful connect with the students. A Slogan Writing Competition on the theme "Healthy Lifestyle" was also organised, providing NCC cadets and students with a creative platform to express their ideas on wellness, balanced living, mind-body harmony and sustainability. LCPL Mehak Thakur secured the first position, followed by CDT Priyanshi Pandey in second place and Rani Passi in third place. CDT Vanshita and CDT Mushkan received consolation prizes. A Reel-Making Activity on the theme "Lifestyle" was also launched, encouraging students to creatively communicate the significance of healthy and sustainable living through short-form digital content.
