DBU Law School holds Legal Aid Camp

MANDI GOBINDGARH, Sept 12: The University School of Law, Desh Bhagat University, organised a One-Day Legal Aid Awareness Camp at Government High School, Bugga Kalan, Fatehgarh Sahib. The initiative aimed to promote legal literacy and familiarise participants with their rights, safeguards and available legal remedies.
The initiative was appreciated by Hon'ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur and Dr Harsh Sadawarti Vice Chancellor, who encouraged the University School of Law to continue organising legal awareness and community outreach programmes aimed at empowering society through legal education.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Shoeb Khan, Director, University School of Law, and Dr. Jaivir Singh, Principal. The camp received support from Sarpanch Mr. Amritpal Singh and Headmaster Mr. Amandeep Singh.
During the camp, faculty members, including Dr. Arti, Coordinator of the Legal Awareness Camp; Ms. Gagandeep Kaur; Ms. Manpreet Kaur Hayer; and Mr. Sushant Bali, sensitised participants about general legal awareness, women's protection, sexual harassment, domestic violence and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. They also explained reporting mechanisms and the legal remedies available to individuals facing violations of their rights.
Students, including Bhumika, Sarbjot Kaur, Babiya Khatoon, Sania, Retesh Sahnawaj, Ms. Sumita, Mr. Farhan, Md. Ali, Pari Pal, Afroj, Tanjira, Reshma, Ragini, Gurwinder Singh, Pramod, Jasanroop Singh, Mohd. Ali, Ms. Gurnoor Kaur, Sara and Obaidullah Khan, among others, actively participated in the programme. Amritpal performed the role of anchor and coordinated the proceedings.
The camp concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing participants an opportunity to clarify their legal concerns and seek guidance on relevant issues.
