| NAPS registration camp at BBIA Bhawan attracts active participation from Industrial Units | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 12: A two-day registration and awareness camp under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was organised at Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) Bhawan on September 11 and 12. The camp witnessed encouraging participation from industrial units, HR representatives and their teams.
The camp was organised in pursuance of the directions of the Industries & Commerce Department and District Administration Jammu, to facilitate industrial units in registering on the NAPS portal and to create greater awareness about apprenticeship opportunities.
NAPS provides a platform for establishments to engage apprentices and helps bridge the gap between industry requirements and the skills available among young people. It enables establishments to provide practical, on-the-job training while helping youth gain workplace experience and improve their employability.
A team from District Industries Centre (DIC), Jammu, along with representatives of the Skill Development Department, J&K is undertaking the exercise under the guidance of Dr. Arun Manhas, Director Industries & Commerce, Jammu in coordination with the District Administration.
During the camp, officials interacted with unit holders and HR teams, explained the registration and onboarding process and provided on-the-spot technical assistance to eligible units. Queries relating to registration, eligibility and implementation were also addressed.
Tarun Singla, President, BBIA and Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu (FOIJ), welcomed the initiative and said that such camps help bring industry and Government departments closer while creating more apprenticeship and employment opportunities for youth. He assured continued cooperation from BBIA and FOIJ for wider participation under NAPS.BBIA with the support of FOIJ also facilitated the camp by providing the venue, logistics and coordination with industrial units.
Director Industries & Commerce Jammu Dr. Arun Manhas emphasised the need for eligible industrial establishments to make greater use of the apprenticeship programme. He encouraged industry to actively participate and contribute to developing a skilled, industry-ready workforce.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the industry, skill development and employment linkage, while giving young people greater access to practical training and workplace exposure.
The registration and facilitation efforts will continue with the aim of bringing more eligible industrial units under NAPS and expanding apprenticeship opportunities across the industrial sector.
