Jammu, Oct 3: The Jammu Division of Northern Railway intensified its ticket checking drive during September, detecting 6,617 cases of ticketless and irregular travel and generating revenue of Rs 48.88 lakh, an official said on Saturday. The intensive ticket checking drive was conducted from September 1 to 30 at all major stations of the division including Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Udhampur, Pathankot cantonment and in various trains, a spokesman of the northern railways said. He said a total of 6617 cases were registered, from which an income of Rs 48,88,890 was received as railway revenue. These cases also include cases of irregular tickets along with smoking and littering in station premises and trains. |
