Symptomatic patients to isolate at home, asymptomatic to be discharged without test after 10 days

SRINAGAR, Sept 24: The people at helm seem to be confused when it comes to managing both the symptomatic and asymptomatic patients of COVID-19. The protocol regarding such patients changes in the same way as chameleon changes its colours.
Few days back the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) department revised the guidelines for asymptomatic Corona Virus patients and said that such patients would be discharged after 10 days without any test. This revised guideline has confused the people more so those who are directly or indirectly involved with the COVID-19 management.
Sources told Early Times that since a long time most of the symptomatic Corona Virus patients have been advised to go for isolation at home. They said that if symptomatic patients are being asked to go for self isolation at home how come the asymptomatic patients are admitted at hospitals and Covid-19 centres and then set free after 10 days without any test.
“The revised guideline has added to the confusion among the masses more so the COVID-19 patients and their relatives. On one side the people at helm want the symptomatic patients to self isolate themselves at their homes and on the other they are saying that asymptomatic patients would be set free after 10 days without any test,” said sources. Sources said that if asymptomatic patients are admitted at the hospitals and COVID-19 centres it is high time that these are discharged and sent back to their respective homes. They said that this would ease the burden on COVID-19 designated hospitals and only those patients are admitted there who are in dire need of same.
“It would be better for the people at helm to clear the confusion about the management of both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients of Corona Virus. If they want to admit both the symptomatic and asymptomatic patients in the hospitals then they should increase the beds. This is more important since on an average more than 1100 COVID-19 cases are being reported in Jammu & Kashmir over the past couple of weeks now,” said sources.
Sources said that masses are disturbed over the fact that people who have co-morbidities and then die are referred to have died due to Corona Virus by the people at helm. They said that few deaths can be attributed directly to COVID-19, adding that the people are hell bent to declare that such patients die due to Corona Virus.
