New Delhi, Jan 7: In view of the house listing operations under Census 2027, the centre has set the period from April 1 to September 30, 2026, which will involve a door-to-door survey for collection of data on housing conditions and household amenities throughout the states and the union territories in the country.
“The Central Government hereby declares that the house listing operations of the Census of India 2027 shall take place between April 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026 in all States and union territories in India during the period of thirty days specified by each state and union territory,” a notification by the Home Ministry stated.
The MHA notification also said that there shall also be an option for self- enumeration which shall be conducted in fifteen days time, just before the beginning of the house to house listing work.
In these six months, the work for listing of the houses will be done within a window of thirty days, depending on the situation in the respective state and the UT.
The census is usually done in every ten years. The last census was done in 2011 and due to Covid 19, the census of India couldn’t be undertaken in 2021. | | |
