Jammu, Jan 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to shift to his new office complex this week, with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) set to move to the newly built ‘Seva Teerth’ complex under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project.
Sources said the relocation is planned around Makar Sankranti on January 14. The Seva Teerth complex has been designed to house the PMO, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), with each institution operating from a separate building.
The building earmarked for the PMO has been named ‘Seva Teerth-1’ and features modern office spaces and ceremonial halls, reflecting the theme of sewa (service). The relocation will mark the end of an era, as the PMO has functioned from the South Block since India’s Independence in 1947.
While ‘Seva Teerth-2’ is already occupied by the Cabinet Secretariat, which shifted there in September last year, ‘Seva Teerth-3’ will house the office of the National Security Advisor and the NSCS.

The Seva Teerth complex, also known as the Executive Enclave, is being constructed by Larsen & Toubro at a cost of Rs 1,189 crore and spans 2,26,203 square feet. A new official residence for the Prime Minister, tentatively named ‘Executive Enclave Part-2’, is also under construction nearby.
The shift is in line with the Prime Minister’s stated vision of moving away from colonial-era symbols. Earlier, the government had renamed New Delhi’s iconic Rajpath as Kartavya Path.
As part of broader efforts to modernise government infrastructure and improve administrative efficiency, new Common Central Secretariat (CCS) buildings are also being constructed to bring together ministries currently scattered across Delhi. One such building, Kartavya Bhawan, inaugurated in August last year, is already housing several ministries. |
