Early Times Report
Anantnag, May 7: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and illegal narcotics networks, Anantnag Police on Thursday attached immovable property worth approximately Rs 2.5 crore belonging to an alleged notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
Police said the attached property includes a double-storied residential house, a shopping complex comprising 20 shops, and land measuring 1 Kanal and 6 Marlas.
The property belongs to Javid Ahmad Rather, son of Mohd Abdullah Rather, a resident of Waghama, who is involved in FIR No. 237/2021 under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bijbehara.
Officials said the attachment was carried out after completion of all legal formalities under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The market value of the attached property has been estimated at around Rs 2.5 crore.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society and said strict action will continue against individuals involved in narcotics trafficking. Police added that attachment of illegally acquired properties acts as a strong deterrent against drug peddling and other unlawful activities.
