CBI arrests Junior Assistant for accepting bribe via QR Code

Jammu, May 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Assistant posted in the office of the Superintending Engineer, PHE Mechanical Urban Circle, Narwal, Jammu, for allegedly accepting a bribe to clear a pension case.
According to an official release, the CBI registered a case on Sunday following a complaint that the accused had demanded Rs 4,500 from the complainant for processing and clearing his pension case.
The accused had allegedly shared his QR code through WhatsApp to receive the bribe amount digitally.
Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on May 24 and caught the accused red-handed while receiving the bribe amount through the QR code transaction. Following the successful trap operation, the accused was arrested on Monday.
The agency said further investigation into the case is underway.
