Jammu, May 30: In a powerful display of patriotism and commitment to national service, nearly 500 youth from the Kashmir Valley on Friday joined the Indian Army as Agniveers after successfully completing their military training at the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) Regimental Centre in Srinagar.
The young recruits were among 540 Agniveers of the Seventh Batch who passed out during an impressive Attestation and Passing Out Parade held at the Regimental Centre, marking their formal induction into the Indian Army.
The event assumed special significance as an overwhelming majority of the newly inducted soldiers hailed from different districts of the Kashmir Valley, reflecting the growing enthusiasm among Kashmiri youth to serve the nation in uniform and contribute to its security and development.
Emotional scenes unfolded at the parade ground as proud parents and family members watched their sons don the olive green uniform. Many were seen cheering, applauding and shedding tears of joy as the young soldiers marched with confidence and pride, marking the culmination of months of rigorous military training.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Kashmir Valley, the parade showcased military precision, discipline and professionalism. The ceremony symbolised the transformation of ordinary young men into trained soldiers ready to shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The parade was reviewed by Lt Gen P K Mishra, who congratulated the Agniveers on successfully completing their training and praised their dedication, resilience and commitment. Senior military officers, civil dignitaries and family members were present on the occasion.
Addressing the newly inducted soldiers, Lt Gen Mishra urged them to uphold the highest traditions and values of the Indian Army and remain steadfast in the service of the nation. He commended the Agniveers for their perseverance and determination throughout the demanding training period and lauded the instructors and training staff for shaping them into disciplined and combat-ready soldiers.
The solemn Attestation Ceremony, during which the Agniveers took the Oath of Allegiance, marked a defining moment in their lives. The oath symbolised their unwavering commitment to duty, courage, discipline and selfless service.
As the National Flag fluttered over the parade ground and the contingent marched past in perfect synchronisation, the ceremony emerged as a strong testament to the aspirations of Kashmiri youth and their growing participation in nation-building through service in the armed forces.
Army officials said the successful passing out of the Seventh Batch of Agniveers represents another milestone in the Indian Army's efforts to build a new generation of motivated, disciplined and technologically skilled soldiers. Their induction is expected to further strengthen the Army's operational capabilities while reinforcing the message that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are playing an active role in safeguarding the country's unity, integrity and security. |
