Early Times Report
Anantnag, June 3: In a major action against the narcotics network, Anantnag Police on Wednesday attached a residential property worth nearly Rs 60 lakh belonging to an alleged notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said the attached property comprises a two-storey concrete residential house built on six marlas of land, with an estimated market value of around Rs 60 lakh. The property belongs to Aasif Hussain Khan alias Soab Don, son of Abdul Gani Khan, a resident of Anchidora area of Anantnag.
According to officials, the attachment was carried out under Section 68F of the NDPS Act after completion of all legal formalities. Investigations established that the property was allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illegal drug trafficking and other narcotics-related activities.
Police stated that the move is part of an intensified campaign to dismantle the financial assets and infrastructure of individuals involved in the drug trade. By targeting properties acquired through illicit means, law enforcement agencies aim to ensure that offenders do not benefit from the proceeds of crime.
Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the district and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling and other criminal activities. Officials said the crackdown against narcotics traffickers and their assets will continue in the coming days.
