Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 6: Crises that erupted in the ruling National Conference after the October 27 cabinet reshuffle appear to be eased out, for the time being, after annoyed MLAs’ meeting with party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Srinagar.
Before the beginning of the keenly watched meeting, leader of the annoyed MLAs Nazir Ahmed Gurezi made it clear that Dr Farooq Abdullah is their leader and they have full faith in his leadership. He said that some MLAs would raise their grievances before the party leadership as loyal and committed workers of the party.
After the meeting, Dr Farooq Abdullah categorically dismissed reports of a possible split within the party. He clarified that the party remains fully united and that the concerns raised by the MLAs will be addressed soon.
Speaking to reporters at his residence in Gupkar, Farooq Abdullah said that the MLAs have brought their grievances to the attention of the party leadership and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The Chief Minister assured them that their concerns will be seriously considered.
Describing the MLAs' grievances as legitimate, he said that the party leadership will engage with them and take necessary steps to resolve the issues.
Rejecting reports of a split in the National Conference, Farooq Abdullah reiterated that the party leadership is committed to addressing the MLAs' concerns and maintaining the unity of the organization.
Reiterating the party's political stance, he said that the National Conference will continue its struggle for the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A.
He said that the issues raised by the MLAs are legitimate and will be resolved soon.
He said the National Conference is an organised party, it has never been broken and it can never be broken. Those who think this are mistaken, he added.
Dr Abdullah said they sat together, talked, and considered the legislators' issues very seriously. He said everyone was heard.
He said some steps will be taken quickly and some steps will be taken slowly, and the government will be strengthened so that the difficulties of the people are removed.
He added that along with this, the fight to get back statehood will continue, and the fight for Article 370 and Article 35-A will also continue.
Notably, during the meeting, party leadership asked annoyed MLAs not to bring independent MLAs with them during the meeting.
