| To pacify MLAs , NC likely to appoint 2 political advisors for CM Omar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 7: To pacify the annoyed MLAs of the party, the ruling National Conference is likely to appoint two political advisors to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Apart from appointing two political advisors, the National Conference is also likely to give assignments to MLAs with different ministers so that they can solve problems related to their respective constituencies. The discontent that emerged after the October 27 cabinet reshuffle appeared to be resolved after Friday’s meeting. The marathon meeting, lasting nearly two hours at party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah's residence on Gupkar Road in Srinagar, resulted in several tough policy decisions to appease the MLAs' discontent. A major cabinet reshuffle after six months was also approved, with the ministers' performance evaluated. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took a strong stance regarding discipline within the government and the organization, even reprimanding the MLAs. In this in-depth closed-door meeting, the two top leaders heard each of the MLAs' complaints and clarified that some immediate and some phased steps would be taken to strengthen the organization and the government. After listening to all the MLAs' complaints and demands, the high command took several major and tough decisions. It was decided that a special high-level committee would be formed to implement the promises made in the party's election manifesto in a phased manner. | | |
