NC reserves comments for Omar, Cong says it's a human issue
Valley clamor against refugees' rights
1/13/2015 12:41:59 AM
Arun Singh Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 12: While the clamor in valley generates great furor over the rights of the refugees which the valley based separatists as well the main stream political leaders have been advocating likely to make dent in the demography of the state, this has received a backlash from the Jammu based refugees' leaders. Though the mainstream political leaders in Jammu too join the fray in saying that refugees' rights are their bonafide rights and the human issue, some have kept their comments reserved for a while until their party leaders do not come up with a statement on the issue. "Our leader has been in London and today only he has landed in the state. We can issue the statement only after consulting our leader," said Ajay Sadhotra, NC leader saying that after consultation with its NC leader Omar Abdullah only, the statement on such a contentious issue can be made. Omar Abdullah who resigned as the care-taker chief minister recently was in London attending his ailing father and has landed in the state today only. It is pertinent to mention here t...

Will Jammu trust Congress anymore?
Congress and regional council
1/13/2015 12:41:16 AM
Neha Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 12: The Congress, which was decimated by the alienated Jammu electorate in the just-held assembly elections, has, it seems, not learned any lesson for its highly humiliating defeat. The Congress, which had won 17 seats in 2002 and 13 in 2008 in assembly elections in Jammu, could win only five seats out of 37 into which Jammu province is territorially divided for the purpose of constituting J&K assembly. This was its worst performance. What was even more worse was that its not a single Hindu candidate could make it to the assembly. In the eleventh assembly, the Congress had 7 Hindu MLAs -- all from Jammu -- five of whom became ministers in the Omar A...

1/13/2015 12:41:06 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 12: People in general are buoyed by the imposition of Governor rule in Jammu and Kashmir as they expect that decisions taken by the Raj Bhawan shall be devoid of political bias and vested interests. However, whether or not the Governor will undo the wrongs done by the political dispensations is a question which has its answer in time. Governor N N Vohra hit the nail on the head when he chaired a meeting of the administrative secretaries in the civil secretariat the previous day, making a special mention of departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development, as these two departments had gained notoriety in the previous regime for unprecedented irregu...

Governor's Rule
1/13/2015 12:40:26 AM
Rustam Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 12: It's just not fair. It is not the PDP that created a situation forcing the State Governor to bring the State under his own rule by invoking section 92 of the J&K Constitution, notwithstanding the fact that it had reportedly insisted that the BJP should accept its pre-conditions, including the suggestion that the office of the Chief Minister must remain with the PDP for the entire term of six years and the BJP asserting its position being the second largest party and winning over 70 per cent of the seats from Jammu province. There was time for the PDP and the BJP to clinch some power-sharing formula till January 18 and both the parties were try...
