Dr Jitendra launches India’s first Manned Ocean Mission ‘Samudrayan’

CHENNAI, Oct 29 : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh launched here today, India’s first Manned Ocean Mission “Samudrayan”. Addressing the Scientists at the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Chennai after the formal ceremony, the Minister said, with this launch, India joins the elite club of nations such as USA, Russia, Japan, France and China to have such underwater vehicles for carrying out subsea activities. This opens a new chapter for exploring ocean resources for drinking water,clean energy and blue economy, he said. Dr Jitendra Singh said, this niche technology shall facilitate Ministry of Earth Sciences, MoES in carrying out deep ocean exploration of the non-living resources such as polymetallic manganese nodules, gas hydrates, hydro-thermal sulphides and cobalt crusts, located at a depth between 1000 and 5500 meters. JAMMU, OCTOBER 30: National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), a fully owned Company of Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Govt. of India donated 4 ambulances to the Health Department, here on Saturday. “In furtherance to its mission of social services, four fully loaded ambulances were handed over by Executive Director, (P) M. Petrol, diesel prices hiked for fourth consecutive day

New Delhi, Oct 30: Petrol and diesel prices increased for the fourth consecutive day to touch record high levels across the country. With a hike of 35 paise a litre, the price of petrol in Delhi rose to its highest-ever level of Rs 108.99 a litre. The price of diesel also saw a hike by 35 paise and took the fuel’s rate to Rs 97.72 per litre in the national capital. Mumbai also reported a surge in fuel prices as compared to yesterday. The petrol in retail cost stands at Rs 114.81 per litre whereas diesel costs Rs 105.86 per litre today in Mumbai.
