Nearly 300 terrorists active in J&K, 160 others present across LoC: Army Commander

Early Times Report Poonch, Nov 22: Around 300 terrorists are present in Jammu and Kashmir, while 160 others are waiting on the launch pads for an opportunity to sneak into this side from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan, a top army commander said on Tuesday. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said the security situation in the Union territory has undergone a major change after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 and terrorist activities have been controlled to a large extent. “Around 300 terrorists are present in length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir but we are making sure they are not able to carry out any action,” the army commander told reporters on the sidelines of platinum jubilee of historic ‘Poonch Link-up Day’ here. Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: Asserting that security forces have controlled terrorism to some extent in Jammu and Kashmir, General officer Commanding-in-Chief (GoC-in-C) Northern Command Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said that nearly 300 terrorists are active in different parts of the Union Territory. “We have controlled terrorism to some extent. Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 22: Alert troops of the Border Security Force on Tuesday morning neutralised one Pakistani intruder and apprehended another in separate incidents along the international border in Jammu and Samba districts. A BSF spokesperson said that troops neutralized an intruder coming from Pakistan on IB in Arnia sector early morning as he was approaching aggressively towards the fence. “He was challenged, asked to stop but he did not pay any heed. Recently, Special Judge Anti Corruption rejected the bail application of a tehsildar who was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The Special Judge while rejecting the bail plea of the accused officer observed that the accused had shattered the trust of the society by taking the bribe. The Judge reprimanded the accused for non-cooperation with the investigating agency and maintained that if the bail is granted to him it would hamper the investigations.
