Early Times Report Jammu, June 6: Amid reports about desperate attempts of the Pakistan-sponsored terror groups to revive their activities in the remotest hilly areas of Jammu province, the Jammu and Kashmir has decided to rejuvenate the virtually 'defunct' Village Defence Committees (VDCs) to frustrate evil designs of anti-national forces. Recently some camps were organized to check the weapons of VDC members. Such camp was organized in Reasi recently in which nearly 6000 VDC members, including 20 women of district Reasi had participated. The VDCs were set up in the mid-1990s with an aim to strengthen the security of people living in remote and mountainous areas of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Reasi, Kathua, and Poonch districts of the Jammu region. Subordinate courts in Jammu close for summer break

Early Times Report JAMMU, June 6: The summer vacation of the courts of the Jammu division began today. According to the order issued by Registrar General Sanjeev Gupta the subordinate courts of Jammu province excluding the courts located at Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Doda, Batote, Gool, Bani, Banihal and Ukhral, shall observe 15 days summer vacation with effect from June 6, 2022 to June 20, 2022 (both days inclusive). Early Times Report Srinagar, June 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a brick kiln owner in Budgam district for alleged negligence and non-compliance of administrative orders that led to the killing of a non-local worker on June 2. Police said Mohammed Yousuf Mir of Chattergam was arrested for endangering the life and safety of labourers. On June 2, militants fired at two labourers working in a brick kiln owned by Mir at Magraypora Chadoora. One of the injured workers, Dilkhush Kumar of Bihar, succumbed to injuries. Early Times Report Srinagar, June 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two persons including a woman who were involved in smuggling narcotics in Kupwara district. The woman is suspected to be involved in smuggling drugs across the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan, the police said. They said both were arrested under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act and heroin-like substance was recovered from them. Kashmir: Encounters in frontier districts spur fears of fresh infiltration

Early Times Report Srinagar, June 6: The last month's encounters in the three districts- Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora- that share Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) has spurred fears of fresh infiltration.
