JAMMU, Apr 23: The Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora on Tuesday inspected the pace of progress on the Maharaja Hari Singh Ji Park coming up near Jogi Ghat. Being developed as another attraction for the tourist visiting this temple city, the Park would be completed in phased manner and the first Phase is estimated to cost Rs. 2.50 crore. The Park, being developed on modern lines, would have a massive landscaped area with lush green lawns, flower beds and ornamental trees, besides attractive fountains, a Restaurant and other recreational facilities overseeing the artificial lake coming up downstream River Tawi. When completed the Park would act as an added attraction for tourists and locals offering a green and healthy place to tourists and locals to spent their leisure moments. The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mr. Kuldeep Khajuria and other senior officers and Engineers of the Corporation. On the occasion, the Minister was briefed by the Commissioner, JMC about the facilities being developed at the park for the visitors. He said the place would have a Cafeteria, Water Bodies, Fountains, Gazebo, seating facilities, High Mast Lights, public convenience, view points and covered eating places etc. Meanwhile, Mr Jora, while highlighting the main purpose of developing such parks and recreation places in Capital cities, he said that besides adding to their attraction from tourism point of view, these places would also provide clean and green areas for morning and evening walkers of the city. He said that it will be a unique experience for pilgrims and tourists to have a walk on the banks of the Tawi. Mr Jora said that the State has a rich cultural heritage, thousands of years old monuments and pilgrim destinations, which are being visited by more than 10 million people annually from all the corners of the world, while such parks and other amusement places can also play a great role to attract more and more tourists to the State. The Minister directed the JMC engineers to expedite the construction work and complete the task within seven- eight months. Describing the City of temple as the gate way for the tourists to enter the State, he directed officers of JMC to keep the city neat and clean and ensure proper sanitation, regulation of traffic lights, proper maintenance of traffic system and dumping of garbage at the proper selected places in the city.
