Jammu, Sept 2: Even the bribe money collected by this SHO can't be so huge as compared to his earnings from the 'unlawful' land business. In August only, he is alleged to have made several lakhs by settling three land disputes.
He is alleged to be sharing the proceeds with a 'senior' officer, bypassing his other seniors. All the three plots are located in a posh city locality and are worth crores. "His monthly earnings run into several lakhs as he charges huge amounts of money from people to settle their land disputes," police sources alleged.
Sources alleged that though at least one land dispute was being settled by him in a month, he settled three such cases last month, thus making several lakh rupees which were delivered by the beneficiaries at his residence in Jammu. Of the three lands, two had their connnection with property dealers while one belonged to a businessman.
The SHO, misusing his official position, intimidated and harassed those who were in physical possession of the lands. They were put under so much of pressure that they ultimately vacated the lands. Sources alleged that they were also given some money to vacate the lands and hand them over to the SHO's parties.
The proceeds, which the SHO was paid, were also shared by him allegedly with his 'mentor', a 'senior' police officer, and the incharge of the police post that falls under his command. "He is the senior officer's blue-eyed and was posted at the police station with his blessings," sources informed.
Though his immediate seniors were aware of all his unlawful deals, no one dared to take action against him due to his links with the 'senior' officer. |
