Jammu, Feb 10: The state government on Saturday referred the "Public Property Damage Act" bill to Select Committee amid resentment by the opposition members soon after it was introduced in the Legislative Assembly. Soon after the bill introduced in the House, the opposition members including NC MLA from Khanyar, CPI (M) MLA from Kulgam and others categorically opposed the bill and said it contains more strict laws. The ruckus over the controversial bill continued with the opposition demanding its immediate withdrawal or its referral to the Select Committee for discussion. Meanwhile, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs agreed to the opposition members' demand and said the bill will be referred to the Select Committee. |
